ACES Holds a Training Course for UNRWA Senior Engineers

A five day course was conducted by ACES Amman recently to the senior technical staff of UNRWA from Jordan, Syria, West Bank, and GAZA. The course title was “Durability of reinforced concrete structures, evaluation of structure condition and design of Maintenance and repair requirements”.

 The course objectives were to provide the participants with the basic information and theory of reinforced concrete durability and the adverse elements that cause concrete structures deterioration with time. It also provided the participants with the required skills for technical evaluation of the existing condition of the concrete structures, and for identifying the existing deficiencies such as cracks, spalling, corrosion of steel bars, surface abrasion….etc, and determining its causes. Additionally, the course provided the participants with general approach on the maintenance and repair alternatives.

 The course which was attended by thirteen senior UNRWA engineers was conducted at ACES- Amman training center and consisted of lectures presenting the theoretical information and practical case studies. The course described also the equipment and tools normally used in the investigation and demonstrated how it is used.

Attendance certificate was issued for every successfully attending participant.The course was presented by Dr. IZZ EDDIN KATKHUDA, Partner and Director of ACES, and assisted by ACES senior technical staff.
