ACES Muscat completes the Geotechnical Investigation for Sohar Bitumen Refinery Project

ACES Muscat has recently completed the geotechnical investigation for Sohar Bitumen Refinery project in Sohar Port, north of Sultanate of Oman. 
The proposed project will be constructed over an area of 27 hectares and includes the construction of storage tanks and facilities related to Asphalt refinery.
ACES Muscat scope of work included drilling of 47 boreholes to the depth ranging from 20m to 30m with total drilling meters of 1133m, excavating 127 trial pits, conducting extensive field testing and monitoring including installation of piezometers, standard penetration tests, cone penetration test, electrical and thermal resistivity tests and down-hole seismic tests. The scope of work also included an environmental site assessment (zero base survey) to capture and describe the environmental soil and groundwater quality and check whether the site is contaminated by the nearby activities in Sohar port.
The client is  Sohar Asphalt LLC and the consultant is Tecnicas Reunidas LLC (Oman).
