Arab Center for Engineering Studies (ACES) has attended the graduation project poster session and industrial seminar at the University of Jordan. This event was organized by the Civil Engineering Community (CEC), which is the first American Society for Civil Engineers (ASCE) student chapter in Jordan. An industrial seminar on ‘Fresh Graduates and Site Supervision’ was delivered by Eng. Sari Zuaiter (Managing Director at Tibah Consultants and Head of Civil Engineering branch at Jordanian Engineers Association). Welcoming speeches were given by Dr. Naeem Abdulhadi (Deputy Group CEO for Operations at ACES and practitioner advisor for the CEC student chapter) and Dr. Bashar Tarawneh (Head of Civil Engineering Department at University of Jordan). The graduation project poster session included more than 12 posters covering structural, geotechnical, pavement and project management topics. The event was attended by representatives from engineering firms, Jordanian Engineers Association, A/E Forum, Jordan University faculty and students. “The event was successful in connecting the students with the engineering industry. Such activities will assist in preparing the student to enter the practical world through dynamic interactions and engagement with the industry professionals” explained Dr. Naeem Abdulhadi.

ACES Abu Dhabi was recently awarded the geotechnical investigation, topographical and underground detection survey for FEED study for Bu Hasa Integrated Field Development in Abu Dhabi, UAE. The proposed project, which is owned by Abu Dhabi Company for Onshore Petroleum Operations Ltd. (ADCO), includes the construction of oil, gas and water pipelines to different processing plants to increase the production. The geotechnical investigation was conducted by drilling of 167 Boreholes up to 20 meters depth, and excavation of 282 trial pits in different station areas. During the investigation, a wide range of field tests were conducted including seismic cross hole tests in the boreholes as well as electrical resistivity and thermal resistivity tests. Furthermore, the scope of work includes detailed topographic and underground detection survey along the pipeline routes (423 Km) and plant areas (263,675 m2), and installation of (34) benchmarks.
