ACES Dubai is pleased to announce that it has introduced a robust, time and cost effective method / instrument to directly measure the in-situ modulus of deformation of soils. Further, measurement of shear wave velocity is also included as an option. The result will include a 20cm interval Ed profile and Ko profile in addition to Vs profile if required. Please refer to below schematic presentation on the instrument. The below links provide further information on the test and interpretations.

ACES Dubai has completed several projects for the state assessment of integrity of diaphragm wall/ shoring system and raft foundation including:  Dubai Health Care City Hotel (Al Khor Hotel) for Kling Consultant  Lilian Tower at Business Bay for Zetas Zemin Teknologisi A.S.  Village Center at Jumeirah Palm for ACES International  Al Habtoor Graqnd Palm Resort at Jumeirah Palm for Zetas Zemin Teknologisi A.S.  Inspection of two bridges(Marina Bridge and Marina Bridge 3), Al Sufuoh Transit System for RTA. The contractor is BeSix Construction The scope of works included removal of coating layer, detailed crack mapping, performing destructive and non-destructive test like UPV, Half Cell Potential Survey, Rebound Hammer Test, Cover meter Survey, Concrete Core Drilling, Opening of Inspection Windows, Extraction of Steel sample and Testing, Dust Drilling for Chemical Analysis. These project were performed with close coordination with RTA and Dubai Police as road diversion is required. Barge and Manlift/Cherry picker were included in the mobilization as some of the locations were above water.

ACES Dubai completed recently geotechnical works for the prestigious project, Dubai Frame, in Dubai, UAE. The project was awarded by M/s. Dubai Municipality with a scope of drilling boreholes up to 50m deep, geophysical testing, instrumentation monitoring, laboratory testing and reporting. The project is another Landmark of Dubai, coming up at Zabeel Park. The project will be 150-meter-high glass bridge. Each side shaft will have lifts that will take the visitors to the top of the structure where a cafe will offer breathtaking 360-degree view of the entire city. The cross beam is designed to have a glass bridge with an observation deck.

The Amman-based Pavement Studies & Evaluation Regional Center of Excellence has conducted a training course on asphalt mixes and pavement evaluation at ACES Riyadh from 6-8 May, 2013. Material engineers and technicians from ACES Riyadh, Jeddah, Khobar, Najran and Breydah offices attended the course which was delivered by Dr. Ibrahim Assi, Pavement Studies and Evaluation Center of Excellence Manager.

ACES Jeddah has recently awarded and currently working for the geotechnical and material work for the Makkah Mass Railway Transit Project (MMRT) for Line-C, in Makkah Al Mukarramah. The scope of work of the project includes drilling for 94 boreholes with a total depth of 3070m, auguring and coring as well as laboratory tests including sieve analysis, plasticity index tests, UCS tests, point load tests, direct shear tests, hardness tests, Brazilian tests, porosity & density of rock, Cercher tests (abrasion tests), contamination tests and routine chemical tests for soil and water samples.
