Dear Clients, Colleagues and Friends,
We would like to start our year in review by wishing you a happy, healthy and prosperous new year.
The previous year marked yet another record year for ACES, characterized by noteworthy achievements and successful completion of our 2021 - 2023 corporate strategy “From Regional to Global”. We would like to extend our deepest appreciation to our colleagues, clients, and stakeholders in making 2023 a success.
The highlight of our year was the ACES 40th anniversary, marking four decades since our inception in 1983. Today, ACES is a frontrunner in the engineering sector, evolving from a local company with a single rented drill rig to an international powerhouse boasting an advanced fleet of 180 rigs, 28 offices and over 3,000 employees. This evolution underscores our unwavering commitment to excellence and innovation. The 40th-anniversary celebration, denoted by #ACES40 on social media, honors our remarkable history and the collective contributions of everyone involved in our journey.
During the past year, we continued our strategic growth and expansion, with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia playing a pivotal role. In 2023, ACES increased its footprint in the Kingdom to 16 locations by establishing two independent offices in Tabuk for construction and environmental testing, respectively, and a dedicated laboratory to serve Al Qiddiya’s various projects (Riyadh). We also expanded our Gayal laboratory to serve the NEOM region, and fortified our newly acquired Inspection Technology Company's (ITC) non-destructive testing capabilities in Khobar, enhancing our contribution to KSA's Vision 2030.
Significant growth was also observed in the UAE, with investment in Oil & Gas in Abu Dhabi, and a thriving residential and tourism sector in Dubai, resulting in  the best ACES performance  in the past decade. Our diversification into non-construction testing, food inspection, and fire certification in Qatar paid off, earning recognition from the Ministry of Public Health. In Jordan, we maintained our market share through large industrial projects, and we witnessed an inflection point in Oman's market where investments in infrastructure and tourism were noteworthy. ACES Kuwait also displayed strong performance, particularly in road projects during its first full year of operations. Meanwhile in the USA, we have more closely collaborated with our colleagues at MC Squared, and are in good standing to have a record year there in 2024.
In 2023, ACES's project involvement showcased our adaptability and expertise across various sectors in Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Qatar. Our projects in Saudi Arabia included key developments such as Al Qiddiya, Oxagon, Murabaa, King Salman Park, Diriyah Gate, The Line, Amaala and the Red Sea Development, along with significant collaborations with Aramco in the Eastern Province. In the UAE, we concentrated on specialized projects in the Oil & Gas sector for ADNOC, demonstrating our sector-specific capabilities, and multiple high-end residential and tourism developments in Dubai and the Northern Emirates. Meanwhile, in Qatar, we continued supporting essential Oil & Gas operations in Ras Laffan, highlighting our commitment to key industrial initiatives.
Internally, 2023 was a year of enhancement. We successfully implemented a new, dynamic Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) across all branches, improving efficiency, control and increasing client touchpoints. Additionally, we inaugurated our first class of the Accelerated Leadership Program (ALP), which aims to develop ACES’ future leaders and foster a sustainable culture of growth.
As we reflect on the successes of 2023, our hearts are heavy with the ongoing situation that has unfolded in the region. As we look forward to 2024, we hold onto hope for a year filled with peace and prosperity, both in the region and across the globe.
We are wishing everyone a happy, healthy, and peaceful new year.
