We are pleased to share the completion of an offshore and onshore geotechnical site investigation for the New Smart City in Salalah, Oman, one of the sultanate's flagship developments under Oman Vision 2040. Spanning over 10 million square meters in the heart of Salalah, the New Smart City is planned to accommodate around 60,000 residents across thousands of residential units, with extensive open spaces, hospitals, and integrated transport links, all designed around principles of sustainability and climate-resilient living.
The program comprised onshore and offshore boreholes with depths of up to 30 meters, alongside a combination of monitoring and in-situ testing including piezometers and cone penetration tests (CPTs). This was supported by a comprehensive laboratory program and detailed geotechnical interpretation to inform the design and development of a project of this scale and complexity. The work reflects the depth of capability the ACES Geotechnical Department continues to bring to major infrastructure projects across the region.
